2008-09THE ZETA RHO CHAPTER OF SIGMA CHI STRATEGIC ACTION PLAN 2008-2009 CENTRAL MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY

GOAL 1:

Improve Chapter Strategiccumulative grade point average from 2.54 to 3.0.

To accomplish this goal we will…

  • Work with Tom Idema from the Office of Student Life to implement ideas from the scholastic plan he presented to us.
  • Develop aggressive awards as incentive for academic success.
  • Have Scholarship Chairman collect semester schedules and verify brothers enrollment status
  • Develop a more structured study hours system
  • Promote study hours as a brotherhood events
  • Consult other fraternities on CMU’s campus to find out the workings of their Scholarship program to get new ideas for improving our own.

GOAL 2:

Retain 100% of our pledges and Initiate them

To accomplish this goal we will…
  • Create a strong RUSH committee made up of brothers that bring different qualities or motives for joining that can relate to the various interest of our potential new members.
  • Incorporate new recruitment techniques that we haven’t tried in the past as well as improve our past techniques that have been successful.
  • Utilize the knowledge we gained from hosting the Mission 365 program, so we can do a better job approaching and learning about our potential Plannew members.
  • Drop dead weight before extending a bid. Rush is where men should be weeded out and not during the formal pledge period.
  • Obtain pledges class schedules and require them to turn in periodic grade updates to ensure that they meet our standards as well as help them if they are in danger of failure academically.
  • Treat each pledge respectfully and hold them accountable as if they were already brothers.

GOAL 3:

Empower the Executive Board and hold them accountable for accomplishing their goals.

To accomplish this goal we will…

  • Hold periodic meetings to discuss each officers goals and their own plans of action so that they can be held accountable.
  • Have each officer create their own strategic action plans
  • Help each officer but do not do their job for them
  • Require regular reports at E-board meetings and chapter meetings
  • Give each officer room for innovation to develop their role as they see fit. (There is nothing wrong with innovation, but it must be watched to ensure that the job still gets done and that are standards are still maintained.
