Gamma Eta
2008-2009 Strategic Plan
Gamma Eta Chapter - University of Idaho
Vision: To cultivate and maintain a dynamic membership that promotes a high standard of honor, brotherhood and activity in chapter, community, and university affairs.
Improve Alumni Relations
Strong Alumni relations have been a struggle in past years at Gamma Eta. In addition to our annual Alumni Golf Tournament, our chapter plans to host an Alumni BBQ during the fall semester to aid relations with local alumni. Bi-annual newsletters will continue each year highlighting the chapter’s current and past activities. In addition, an electronic database for Alumni will ease the communication efforts between the chapter and Alumni.
Improve Internal Affairs
Internal affairs is an area that our chapter noted to be improved as well. Officer goals will be periodically monitored by the Pro-Consul with the addition of an Officer Accountability Board in Executive Board. The board will list each officer’s goals and corresponding due dates to keep officers on track to complete their goals while in office. In addition, each officer will meet with the Consul and Pro-Consul to discuss their goals, ideas, and available resources. Further, attendance at pledge events, chapter, and other activities was sought to be improved by the chapter as well. Officers plan to promote and motivate members to attend all activities by leading by example and improving communications with out of house members via the Out of House Liaison.
Facility
Improved facility management and appearance was discussed at our chapter retreat last April. Having a responsible, fair, and dedicated house manager is an integral part of improving our facilities appearance. To mitigate an unclean facility, Members who lead by example will promote personal accountability for the chapter’s multiple apartments. Further, frequent all house cleans and weekly apartment checks will meliorate cleanliness to each apartment and the lodge.
Justice/Accountability
Justice is another integral part of our chapter’s success. Justice was noted to be improved with enhanced adherence to our bylaws, rules, and standards. Our bylaws are currently out of date with the last complete revision in 2004. A bylaw committee will be formed to remove portions that are not currently used, add necessary sections, and update all pertinent information to strengthen the validity of our chapter bylaws. Review board is sought to be strengthened by a fair but steadfast Annotator with proper punishments that are followed through and enforced by all members. Moreover, members on social probation will have their names posted in the lodge to educate the chapter of who is on social probation. With the published list of prohibited members in the lodge, the problem of a weak social probation program will be alleviated.
