2007-08 OWN ChapterEVERYTHING
StrategicIt's Plannot a selfish vision, but a competitive one. Our chapter hopes to be the best on campus, and this vision will help guide our goals and actions so that we may – as a chapter – head in the same direction. But the "Own Everything" motto means little by itself. To provide clarity for the brothers of Alpha Beta, we have constructed three important issues that we feel are relevant to our vision:
1) AMBITION
This stems from our tendency to become complacent as leaders in this fraternity. Our chapter is becoming comfortable with what’s been done in the past, and aren’t revolutionizing our positions. So we are encouraging brothers to take risks. We’re pushing them to do something that hasn’t been done before. Our goal as officers is to come up with a novel idea and get brothers behind it.
2) ATTENDANCE
You can’t own everything if you’re not there. Our attendance has been falling during chapter meetings, I-Weeks, philanthropy events, and all of the events that truly matter. So we’re making it a priority to show up. We as a chapter need to OWN every single philanthropy event on campus. Our vision is that sororities will feel confident throwing socials and philanthropy events because they will know that the Sigma Chis will show up at the very least. We want to own that title, and we want to be known as the most reliable fraternity on campus.
3) ACCOUNTABILITY
The only way we’re going to make this happen is if we push the brother next us. That’s called mutual accountability. If the philanthropy chair fails, Sigma Chi fails. If the Gameday chair screws up, we all screw up. So what can we do as a chapter? Provide feedback. If an issue arises, we want to let that brother know that there’s a concern. Our chapter envisions constructive feedback not as an offensive gesture, but as a norm in the fraternity. By providing honest feedback to brothers early on, officers possess the opportunity to correct their course. We strive to never blame others, but to “Own Everything.”
